State of the States 2012

The objective of this study was to recognize the best performing Indian states. This was done by rating the states on the basis of their performance through eight categories. These categories included prosperity and budget; governance; health; education; consumer market; agriculture; infrastructure; investment. On the basis of the rating, India Today annually conducts an award function to recognize the chief minister of the states.
To achieve the objective of the study, a field survey of 5000 households belonging to Sahariya tribe, which was the poorest tribe in Rajasthan, was conducted in 43 villages across 4 tehsils (Kishanganj, Shahbad, Atru & Chhabra) of Baran district in Rajsthan. Through the household survey, Indicus captured complete socio-economic-demographic information related to Sahariya tribes. The survey covered issues like household profile, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, government support, expectations from the government and the similar ones that affect the living of the Sahariya households in the region. The survey was completed in less than a month’s time. In the continuation of the survey, Focus group discussions in 10 villages were also conducted by Indicus researchers to probe into qualitative issues that were captured through primary survey.

A field survey of 960 households in Delhi & NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad was conducted through a structured questionnaire. Through this survey households socio-economic profiles, requirements, driving forces for purchasing, brand consciousness, price points etc. to identify customer segments. In the continuation of the survey, Focus group discussions (4 in each sampled city) were also conducted by Indicus researchers to help in substantiating household survey data for customer segmentation. For solar segment, a total of 240 commercial establishments were also covered across ten cities of India.

The Economic Impact of VANPIC Industrial Corridor
