In line with the trend seen in other Indian states, Jharkhand has witnessed a marked rise in rural consumption in the past nine years, especially in the packaged consumer goods segment. However, it still has a long way to go in improving its social indicators. The eastern state lags behind in providing toilets and electricity to households.
